Contributor Guidelines

Metalsmith magazine is committed to opening eyes and minds to the creative wealth within the metalsmithing field. Our readers are actively engaged in the culture as makers, educators, and collectors, as well as being highly educated (nearly half hold graduate degrees). Accordingly, the content of Metalsmith aims to be literate, thought provoking, engaging, and exploratory.

Metalsmith regularly works with freelance writers and readily seeks new voices for the magazine. If you have a story idea, you are encouraged to contact the editor to determine whether it would be suitable and timely.  For consideration, send a short description of the proposed subject along with representative images. Please also indicate which editorial department or feature type you have in mind for the article.
